Preston North End Community and Education Trust
Football Sessions
Preston North End Community and Education Trust provide access to free football sessions through the Premier League Kicks Programme.
The sessions provide young people with the opportunity to take part in weekly football sessions, using football as a form of escapism from daily challenges in a safe and welcoming environment.
DIVERT
The DIVERT programme aims to reduce the rate of reoffending in Lancashire by working with 18 to 25-year-olds in police custody across four police custody suites in the county;
- Blackburn
- Blackpool
- Lancaster
- Preston.
Preston North End Community and Education Trust are one of seven football community trusts in Lancashire delivering the programme, with each club represented by their own Custody Intervention Coach.
Ria Barker is the Custody Intervention Coach for PNECET while Harrison Astin is the DIVERT Youth Coach.
Coaches will work with young people in police custody, providing them with the chance to make positive life changes with the provision of training and employment opportunities, which aim to reduce the risk of them reoffending.
DIVERT has previously been delivered in a number of other policy custody suites nationwide, including in London where the programme has successfully helped to decrease reoffending rates.
The PNE Forces programme
The PNE Forces programme is an initiative run by Preston North End Community and Education Trust which is open to anyone who currently or has previously served in the Armed Forces.
The initiative includes football and social sessions designed to allow forces members of both past and present a way to keep active while forming new relationships with like-minded people, all the while benefiting their mental and physical health.
Every Wednesday night from 8pm until 9pm at the club's Community Training Centre, at PlayFootball Ingol (PR2 3TX), is the free football hour for forces members to get their foot on the ball. Along with this comes the chance to represent the Trust at regional and national tournaments.
Preston North End signed the Armed Forces Covenant in October 2019, committing to supporting past and present members of the military and their families.

National Citizen Service
National Citizen Service (NCS) is for young people to access during their school holidays in Summer and Autumn.
Preston North End deliver the NCS programme throughout the year - so if you're aged 15 to 17-years-old, you can enjoy new experiences and unique challenges while making your mark building skills for work and life.
You will take part in a number of exciting activities and challenges covering the four phases of:
- Adventure
- Discovery
- Social Action
- Graduation.
You'll begin in a residential setting to give you the opportunity to become more independent and develop life skills, while also tackling activities that push you out of your comfort zone to encourage you to become more confident and to try new things.
You will use the skills you have gained to plan and carry out a social action project to make a difference in the community, whether that's raising money for charity or doing something to help improve your community, such as tidying up or painting a public space used by the local community.
You can celebrate completing NCS with the graduation phase where you will receive a certificate and a recognised national qualification, which is an asset to have on any CV.
NCS invest over £1000 into every participant. Government backing means that it costs just £50 per person to enrol on the programme and the cost can sometimes be even cheaper, with bursaries are available on a case-by-case basis and support is provided for young people with additional needs.
