About Lancashire Adult Learning

Lancashire Adult Learning (LAL) exists to enable all adults in Lancashire, from all walks and stages of life, to learn something new and shape their own futures.

LAL currently offers an extensive range of subjects to learners, with over 2000 courses delivered through more than 300 venues across Lancashire.

They engage with over 11,000 learners, many of whom have very diverse motivations for engaging with LAL's offer, and makes them one of the UK's largest Adult Community Learning Providers. As an independent organisation, they play a crucial role in moving society forward, reaching out and helping people everywhere within our boundaries to move on and up in their lives.

The college is part of the Nelson and Colne College Group, which is the first in Lancashire to receive the highest possible Ofsted accolades under the new inspection framework. The Ofsted inspection team visit a wide range of the community venues in March 2022 that Lancashire Adult Learning uses to deliver its invaluable teaching and learning sessions.

Cost of Living Crisis

Are you worrying about how the cost of living crisis will affect you this winter? Would you like to learn more about the positive steps you can take to feel more in control of issues affecting your household? 

Lancashire Adult Learning are offering a range of free face-to-face and online sessions to help you take control.

Financial Help

Learn more about household budgeting, utility comparisons, debt management and steps to lower household energy consumption. 

Employment, skills and training

Join one of the next steps information and advice sessions to explore employment and career opportunities and the training required to get you there. 

Mental health support

LAL offer a range of courses including Finding Positives in Challenging Times, Mindfulness, Creative Wellbeing and Sleep Well to support you with coping strategies to better manage your own mental health and wellbeing.

Food budgeting and getting healthy

Come and learn about nutrition and cooking healthily on a budget as well as exercises to give you the first steps in improving your health with chair-based exercises and yoga.

LAL also run a range of sustainability and environmental awareness courses which explore the positive impact that lowering energy consumption can have in the workplace and the household.
