Gift 92 helps those in real need to build a stable home. They are the only furniture reuse and recycle charity that gifts items to those who have nearly nothing.

Many of the people Gift 92 help have moved into an empty property and do not have the required funds to build a home for themselves.

They achieve this by supplying the essential furniture and household items needed to create a home without clients needing to incur crippling debt.

• Their work is supported by generous members of the public who donate quality furniture.
• The charity operates in the Preston area but its support and collections extend to a radius of 13 miles, working alongside Lancashire County Council's Crisis Support Scheme.
• The charity is always in need of more furniture and household items due to demand.

Guild Initiative for Furniture Trust (GIFT'92)

In the UK, 14 million people live in poverty, along with 1 in 4 children lives in poverty.

In Preston, 8500 children are living households on very low incomes. That means some families have to choose between heating their homes, feeding their children and trying to find ways to purchase furniture.

Gift 92 was founded to deal with the fact that adults and children were sleeping on hard floors in their new properties because they couldn't afford furniture of their own.

It focuses on obtaining good quality, reusable furniture from regular donations and gifting those items to those in need.

How does Gift 92 work?

The charity does not sell furniture to the general public. Access to the service is by referral only.

The furniture they regularly provide can include:

• Bed
• Sofa
• Table
• Chairs
• Wardrobe
• Chest of drawers
• TV
• Small electrical etc

Gift 92 also works with Preston Relief in Need, Preston Household Assistance Grant Fund and Lancashire County Council Crisis Support to deliver white goods such as fridges, fridge-freezers, washing machines, microwaves and mini-ovens to clients.

All clients must be referred to Gift 92.
