About Let's Grow Preston
Let's Grow Preston started as Preston Environmental Forum, It was originally set up in 2011 as a network of community environmental projects.
Let's Grow Preston promote physical and mental wellbeing through volunteering in horticulture by creating and improving green spaces in Preston to impact the lives of people living in those communities.
Let's Grow Preston empowers communities and individuals through projects such as community gardens, improving woodland and park areas, education within food growing, volunteering and providing training within horticulture.
Based within Ashton Walled Garden located on Ashton Park. They have an abundant community garden which is used for training, volunteering and growing stocks of plants.
They also run a community garden in Grange which sites a small orchard, two poly tunnels, a vegetable garden and pizza oven.
Let's Grow Preston provide a network to help support communities and members by sharing resources and materials, creating projects and workshops, to help grow together.
Let's Grow Preston's Charitable Aims
- Provide training and resources to help community groups to manage and maintain green spaces.
- Provide a network of communication and support for community environmental groups, activities and people.
- Promote an environment of skill sharing, volunteering and sharing of resources.
- Promote and publicize community environmental activities.
Volunteering
Volunteering is at the heart of Let's Grow Preston as it is a community organisation for which many of the activities and groups are run by volunteers.
Let's Grow Preston can offer volunteering roles a number of ways and can involve as little or as much time as you like.
Let's Grow Preston has a large membership of Community Environmental Groups all around Preston.
