Plus don't miss this panel session: The future talent pipeline - inspiring young people to join the industry - National Cyber Security Show 10 Apr 2025 1pm - 1:45pm
Facilitated by Kerry Harrison, Digital Skills Partnership Coordinator, Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub and a host of speakers including Debi McCormack, will be representing The Cyber Scheme, and talking about what skills young people should develop, what qualifications they should focus on and how to develop and retain young talent.
The skills shortage remains a persistent challenge for the cybersecurity sector. Redressing the balance will require a root and branch approach - the development of a Future Talent Pipeline involving education from the earliest stages. Inspiring children and young adults to choose a career in our sector has never been more important. But entry remains challenging and the sector's addiction to jargon and acronyms too often make it appear opaque and unwelcoming. Our panel will discuss what needs to be done to nurture and attract young talent to cybersecurity, how best to advertise it in a competitive skills market, what skills young people should develop, what qualifications they must focus on and, crucially, how to retain talent and develop it further.
This topic draws strong opinions across academic, government and industry leads and they hope to see you there.
