Further information about training opportunities for young people aged 16 to 18 in each area of Lancashire can be found by searching on the moving Opportunities map below. 

Here you can find opportunities that start throughout the year. There are details of the support available to help find work, personal development programmes, work experience, qualifications in English and maths and different vocations.

Courses will usually last from one to six months.

Skills for Work

Skills for Work provides information about 100's of offers across Lancashire to help you learn new skills or to support your health and wellbeing.

For opportunities for people over the age of 19 please visit the Lancashire Skills Hub - Escalate

By answering a few simple questions you will be able to see what is available in your local area to help you get the support you need to get into work.

Cardinal Newman College

Cardinal Newman Sixth Form College offers, A-Levels, BTEC and T-Level qualifications for school leavers. 

Foundation Degrees, and Teacher Training provision is also available for adult learners.

My place - Lancashire Wildlife Trust

The My Place - Lancashire Wildlife Trust offer free online Ecotherapy weekly sessions for 11 to 16 year olds and 16 to 24 year olds. 

If you are between 11 to 15 year old, you must be referred from a recognised youth working agency, such as schools or CAMHS and this can be done by emailing myplace@lancswt.org.uk.

If you are 16 years plus you can self refer by registering via the My Place - Lancashire Wildlife Trust website.

Preston North End Community and Education Trust

Post 16 Education - can study a Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Sport with the chance to represent the Trust by playing football alongside their studies and having access to a wealth of work placement opportunities within the club.

College leavers - can study a foundation degree in community football coaching and development, in partnership with the University of South Wales and English Football League Trust.  This offers a number of valuable work placement opportunities in the sports industry.

Preston Vocational Centre

The Preston Vocational Centre provide opportunities for people to make a real difference in their local communities.

14 to 16 years Schools Individual or Group Placements

Holistic approach for tackling social exclusion by supporting young people who are disengaged with school.  Offering opportunities outside the classroom and working on pupil's personal and social development. This programme can deliver a Pearson BTEC Level 1 Qualification in Construction (QCF).

16 to 18 years Pre-Apprenticeship programme

This is a one year programme that delivers a Pearson BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Construction (QCF) This is an introduction to the world of construction that prepares young people aged 16-18 for a range of trades within the industry.

Adults

The More Positive Together project aims to engage with and support individuals who are unemployed or economically inactive to improve their skills employment prospects.  Eligible participants receive a tailored programme of 1-to-1 mentoring, physical activity sessions, training courses, employment advice and work experience opportunities.
